Dubai Skyline Shots from the Rooftop

We transferred to a different location here in Dubai. I can’t recall how many times I’ve changed addresses, but we’re going to stay longer here since it’s on a contract. One of the things I like to do in this new building apartment is go to the rooftop and take photos of the Dubai skyline.

The rooftop has a pool area and there’s a high wall but without a ladder. What I do to see the view of the Dubai skyline is jump on the wall and pull myself up. It’s a bit of a task which sometimes leaves me with a few scratches on my arms. A bit of pain but to see this view, I wouldn’t mind.

When I’m on the rooftop, there’s a space beside satellite dishes where I could stand (or sit) while waiting for the sky to turn dark. I’ve always wanted to take a photo of the buildings of Dubai and I’m glad the building is not surrounded by other tall ones that the view is blocked.

While waiting for the lights from the buildings to turn on, I usually do a few exercises to kill time. It feels good to take a break from too much online work and just relax for a bit. Exercising is my way of disconnecting from hours and hours of doing my online projects. Not bad to have this view while resting.

After having shifted from a Nikon D80 to a mirrorless Fujifilm XE1, I’m enjoying the fact that I don’t carry a huge camera when I’m outside. I’m hoping to learn more as I become serious with it and use it for my online gigs.

Being on the rooftop gives me the time to reflect and look forward into the future.

Dubai is growing on me. There’s so many opportunities and I’m here to take advantage of the them while I’m away from my country. I’m excited in the coming years as I set up bigger goals for myself.

  1. there is something about retrospections on top of the world, be it on rooftop or in mountain or even on top of the tree. i also do my thinking on top because it declutters my mind and somehow makes me think clearly.

glad that Dubai is growing on you. cheers to a brighter future ed.

    • Thanks for dropping by my blog, Oman! yes really nice to take a breather from time to time. So even if I’m not travelling as much, at least I get my temporary break on the rooftop (and on long commute to work). 🙂
