Magpupungko Rock in Siargao

I miss Siargao. This was one of the first places I visited two years ago which started my love for traveling and blogging about the place I traveled. The pictures below were taken at Magpupungko Lagoon in Siargao. The main attraction aside from the crystal aqua blue waters is that they have this giant rock that’s sitting (pungko) on a smaller one. People are wondering why the rock hasn’t fallen over which adds to its mysterious effect.

My friend would then say that it’s obvious where the heavier side of the rock is sitting but according to another friend, let’s not overanalyze the setting and just be amazed at the beauty of nature.

I would like to post more pictures of Siargao and the different places we checked out there – we spent a week in this beautiful paradise and my Olympus camera was still new so you can expect that I took a lot of photos then.

Magpupungko lagoon is best visited when it’s low tide, the corals and waters have these pool effects which you can jump on and take a dip without having to go near the waves.

  1. Nice to know that you had visited Siargao. But there is one place you missed in going there, Bucas Grande- that island on your right before entering a channel to the town of Dapa. We have lots to offer-coves, caves, lagoons, rock formations, beach, sightseeing (more of Tagaytay?) and most of all, the tinabangay (bayanihan) culture widely practiced by the inhabitants such that, for 30 days in a year each and every able-bodied Socorronhon has to leave the privacy of his life and offer his labor services for free in the construction of houses and collective farming activities. Hope you can include our place in your next travel itinerary.
