More Fun in the Philippines in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I passed by Kuala Lumpur after about a month’s stay in Dungun, Terengganu. I was on my way to Singapore for personal reasons when I dropped by this capital city of Malaysia. I met with travel blogger couple Joey and Summer for a few hours and during the trip, I noticed a familiar advertisement shown on a large screen in one of the railway stations. These were those “More Fun in the Philippines” commercials played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

I remember that there’s a huge campaign back in the Philippines to hype up tourism in the country. The social media community was swamped with so many meme’s of people who support the campaign. I was amused because I didn’t imagine that they’d play it in this side of the world.

It’s more fun in the Philippines!

I thought they’d only show it once, but I was surprised that after about 45 seconds, they’d play the same commercial again. The exposure was good!

Australia’s “There’s nothing like Australia.” ad was also shown in the same tv screen.

When I passed by other stations, I also saw the same ad being played in flat screens. Seeing the commercial made me proud to be a Filipino.

I’m no advertising expert but I’m not sure if it was enough to entice a lot of people to book a flight to the Philippines. These were mere snapshots of different things and places that show a glimpse of my country. But definitely, the ad was eye-catchy enough to attract attention.

I’m just really glad that I’m seeing this commercial in another country! I hope passersby would notice how beautiful the Philippines is as we’ve so much to offer.

big enough for everyone to notice.

  1. in my opinion, ads are there to make people aware about a certain product. showing it multiple of times makes it easier to be remembered and retained, especially subconsciously. though a person may not have plans right now to travel, but when the need arises, he/she will definitely remember It's More Fun in the Philippines!

  5. So its not just in London… I think this is what our tourism campaign longed for – an aggresive international exposure to other countries for it be recognize and attract. Amazing Thailand nga has a huge billboard in EDSA pa nga before while Malaysia Truly Asia ad has a page in every local travel magazine here, so why not have our "more fun" slogan reach the other sides of the world? I think its definitely our time to shine in the tourism forefront…
