no such thing

i know that it’s a bit too late to share my opinion about this song…
it’s just that i want to share what i think about it.

NO SUCH THING

“Welcome to the real world”, she said to me
Condescendingly
Take a seat
Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
And the drama queens
I’d like to think the best of me
Is still hiding
Up my sleeve

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something’s better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there’s no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you’ve got to rise above

So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
Faded white hats
Grabbing credits
Maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can’t find the answers
And all of our parents
They’re getting older
I wonder if they’ve wished for anything better
While in their memories
Tiny tragedies

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something’s better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there’s no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you got to rise above

I am invincible
As long as I’m alive

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there’s no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you’ve got to rise above

I just can’t wait til my 10 year reunion
I’m gonna bust down the double doors
And when I stand on these tables before you
You will know what all this time was for

in the song (in my opinion)… he said that he doesn’t care about
money, living a life of luxury, trying to educate ourselves to be
better… blah blah blah….
and that everything’s a lie… and that there is no such thing as the
real world…

unfortunately, we just have to go with the flow… we also have to
lie… because if we don’t lie… how can we live?…. na-gets ko ang
point sa song. but, I don’t know how to say this… like in my
situation…when I get to have the chance to taste what life is and am
starting to find its true meaning, i have to jump back to reality
because of the problems like what to eat, our requirements, our daily
needs, and other material things na kinakailangan natin, and all the
jobs na hindi pa nagagawa na kailangan pang gawin in this so-called
“WORLD.”

kasi in the song… he has chosen to live life the way he sees and not
because of what’s expected of him and what everyone is doing… tayo,
we study…. for what? to have a good future… to be successful…
but when we reach that tower of success… will we be fulfilled? we
keep searching for the meaning of life and we try to search for
answers by working and studying… but will we be happy??… well it’s
the risk we have to take… and time will be the one to reveal if the
paths we took were right or wrong…

or maybe i don’t really know the song’s meaning and what john mayer
wanted to say… but this is what what i understood from it… so
feel free to share your opinions!

Molecule made this comment,
i’m not a john meyer fan nor do i like his kind of music but i like
the way you bring out your thoughts here. so here’s my two cents worth
about being happy. being happy is a state of mind so they say. it’s
quite relatively easy to be happy but staying happy is always a work
in progress. it’s a fact that we work at being happy. that’s what
makes life all the more exciting. anyway, tamang-tama nasa jollibee ka
na, so better bee happy. ang korni ko talaga. hehe. cheer up, kid.
