Zamboanga City Highlights: Things to Do, Places to Visit

zamboanga airport

I spent 9 days in Zamboanga City. I visited my girlfriend’s hometown and also toured the area in the process. I was a little worried in the beginning because I left on the day that Typhoon Pablo entered the Philippines. However, Zamboanga was one of the few destinations where scheduled flights still pushed through.

For the sake of having a new blog post, here are a few highlights about this trip. I’ll be writing more detailed accounts about these places soon.

Sta. Cruz Pink Island

I read about the Sta. Cruz Island (also known as Pink Island of Zamboanga) through Chyng’s blog post. The island is called such because of the crushed red corals that have sort of “mixed” with the white sand. We were also escorted by an armed soldier for security purposes.

3 Kids in an Airport in Bali, Indonesia

Heading towards the check-in gates at the airport in Bali, Indonesia, I noticed 3 kids walking together in laughter. They were holding hands, pulling each other close and then pushing each other away.

We were on our way back to Kuala Lumpur after a seven-day vacation in Bali, and witnessing these kids smiling was, for the lack of a better word, cute.

Siem Reap and Bangkok Chronicles

Siem Reap in Cambodia and Bangkok in Thailand was fun. I’m glad that we didn’t rush into scenes and had time off to retreat. Most of my travels usually were getting to different tourist spots and other famous destinations. Sure, we also did some sight-seeing in Siem Reap and Bangkok but we weren’t in a hurry which made it all the more worthwhile.

I was able to travel to two cities in two countries over the past week and I thought I could easily update this site with pictures and snippets just to give out glimpses of the places and things we did. However, I’m having difficulty where to start. With so many pending entries and backlogs from different trips, it’s a challenge for me to maintain this site and keep it current. But I’ll figure out a way.

For now, let me just post a few photos of scenes in these countries. Each place has its own charm and story to tell which enriches one’s knowledge on how people go about their way of life.

Hong Kong Trip: Hong Kong to Cebu

The last day of our trip. Our flight wouldn’t be until 12:45am the next day so that meant we had to be at the airport before that time. Since this was our last day, we did some more shopping on items that a couple of colleagues requested for us to buy. Check out time at … Read more

from Cebu to Clark to Malaysia and back

Just arrived in Cebu after a 6-day leave. Actually it’s just 4 days, the rest of the two were spent waiting for our flights in Clark, Pampanga from Cebu and Malaysia. It was a tiring vacation because of all the waiting and I’m happy that I brought my laptop with me to burn some time.

For now it’s back to the office work. I will be reporting again and it’s another normal daily grind. I don’t have any other travel commitments anytime soon except for Iloilo this November for the Blogging Summit. I’m just relieved so I can focus on other things such as going back to doing some freelance work.

Lago Del Rey at Camsur Watersports Complex

You can feel like a kid again at Lago Del Rey at the Camsur Watersports Complex in Camarines Sur. I was there last year and the memory of having a giant playground with inflatable structures, is still fresh in my mind. The lake served as an obstacle course of some sort wherein you can just have fun. It’s a milder version of the popular show ‘Wipe Out’ but still enjoyable.

How to Get to Lago Del Rey in CWC

Lago Del Rey is located at the Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC). It’s about  20 minutes away from the Naga City Bus Terminal and around 10 minutes from the airport. Public utility vehicles (jeeps and trykes0 are available and you can ask for directions from the people around as it’s a very known destination. They’ll usually direct you to their provincial capitol as CWC is situated there.
