Backpacking Southeast Asia for 9 Months

I resigned from my corporate job last January 2012 because I wanted to go on a long-term travel adventure. I was able to accomplish it by backpacking for nine months in seven countries in Southeast Asia. Vietnam-Cambodia-Thailand-Indonesia-Singapore-Malaysia-Philippines I haven’t exhausted all the places in Southeast Asia which I could’ve done simply by hopping on a … Read more

Backpacking Update: Singapore and Bangkok

Pardon the lack of updates, I know I haven’t been blogging a lot lately. I’ve been pretty much busy with mostly my online job. My funds have been depleting and I need to stay in one place in order to gain more work hours to earn more money and keep this backpacking journey going.

I also got exhausted trying to keep updating this site since I have other blogs that also need attention. But all is still well and I’m still alive. 🙂

Side Trip to Singapore and Boracay

During the third month of my backpacking adventure, I made a side trip to Singapore and Boracay. I was supposed to be in Chiang Mai or Laos but there were sudden changes of plans that I had to reroute the destinations and go home earlier than expected.

I told myself that I’d be gone for at least six months; however, it wasn’t really something I wanted to carve in stone. The point of this whole digital nomad lifestyle gig is to show to others that it is possible to bring your work with you and travel at the same time. I think I’ve done fairly enough to say that it can be done.

Singapore

Singapore was not set until the first week of August. I was going to visit the country when I had more money in my bank. I knew that this was going to be an expensive place given that this is a First World country so I wanted more time to save before I check out its attractions. Due to circumstances, I arrived here too soon.

Podcast Interview with Ron of FlipTravels.com

My apologies to my readers (and listeners) as it’s been a month since I last posted a podcast. I can come up with a number of excuses but I’d rather not bother. What’s good is that I finally have one today! We’re at Episode 5 now.

Ron of FlipTravels.com

Ron is one of the writers of FlipTravels.com (the other being Monette). Prior to a trip to Manila, I haven’t met him and was actually scared to interview him. But he was very open to the idea and I think he was even more excited about it. That threw my apprehensions away. He’s currently living in Singapore and is working as a nurse.

One of the things I love about their blog aside from the writing are their videos. When I finally met him, I realized he’s a fun person to hang around with.

trip na trip

SoloflightEd will be going on a lot of trips from August, September, October and November this year! Also, I'll be having a few more on January, February and March next year.

One big problem — where to find some money? I booked different flights due to Cebu Pacific's promo fares in different occasions and offerings but one thing is for sure, the discounts didn't cost me much. Only now I have to look for some cash for my budget. Here are my travels.

This Year:
August – Bohol
September – Hongkong, Macau
October – Manila, Kota Kinabalu, Singapore
November – Iloilo

Next Year:
January – Davao
February – Manila
March – Clark
