Bacolod 2: Palmas del mar & Panaad Festival

Bacolod 2: Palmas del Mar and Panaad Park
Saturday, April 25, 2008

Woke up early to go to Palmas del Mar because my friend’s class was having a get-together there to just bond. Well, since it’s for free, I didn’t mind tagging along. hehe.I didn’t really like the pool, just because I’m more into beaches than pools. But I enjoyed the food a lot though.

At night, we went to Panaad Park where the company had a booth, and I’m included again in helping out, recruiting people who’d pass by to work for the same company where I work. At least I get to have a number of freebies just for having a thick face at a place where I can be thick since I don’t live there. hehe.

Went home at 10pm and had to prepare again to join some folks from the other account who were already at MO2 (a club). I’m also not a disco fan, hehe; but I also tagged along. I can’t believe I didn’t spend that much as well.

Bacolod: day 1

Bacolod 1: SM City, Robinsons, Manokan Country
Friday, April 24, 2008

Went to Citilink (terminal for vans for hire) and whaddya know? When I got there, it only took a couple of minutes to load the van since I was the one lacking to make it full. Perfect timing.

Cebu to Toledo (van): 80 Php - 5:00am - 6:30am
Toledo Pier to San Carlos Pier (AS Express)- 200 Php - 7:30am - 8:00am
San Carlos Pier to the Terminal (tryke) - 20Php
Terminal to Bacolod City (van): 100 Php 8:00am - 10:00am

All the time, it took me 5 hours to get to Bacolod. I’m just very thankful that I got this information through Melisa, who regularly goes to Bacolod every weekend to study an additional course there. It was a bit weird for me as well, since I only got the instructions via phone. Or maybe I’m just one lucky bastard?

Anyway, when I got there, Doi toured me around the place. We went to the office where she was training, went to Robinsons which has the same construction that it had when I last lived here (Yes, I’ve lived here for 6 months during my freshman year in highschool), and went to SM Bacolod which I found the structure, very weird; cause from afar, it would form a letter “H”.

We finished the night by eating in one of the stores in Manokan Country, which is comprised of establishments that serve more or less the same type of dishes (chicken inasal/grilled chicken).

just got back from Bacolod

Just got home from an 8 hour-trip from Bacolod to Cebu. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Took a bus from the Bacolod North Bus Terminal at 1:15 am, and now it’s already 9:15 am. Wow, I could’ve finished a day’s worth of work in that span of time. At least I got home safe, it was raining most of the time in Bacolod, I don’t know what happened to the SUMMER season. At least I wasn’t able to spend that much since the lodging and most of the food I got were treated by people. haha.

We’ll be updating later, if I can still stay up late. I need to take a quick nap and shower up for work. Sigh. work again.

a quick post

Just one quick post, it’s 1:30 am and I’m here in Bacolod! I’m staying in Circle Inn. It’s been two days already and hopefully it won’t rain tomorrow as we’ll be going to the beach. It’s an island called Lakawon island which is I think the only island that has a good beach that’s available. I don’t really know much; just that I’ve been to Robinsons and SM City. Robinsons is still the same place that I’ve been to when I was able to live here in high school for a semester. As for SM, it wasn’t constructed yet. When I checked the place out, it has the form of the letter “H” which I find its structure weird and a bit costly. I can’t explain it very clearly but I know that they could’ve used the space in the hallway for more stalls and stores for maximization. Anyway, I’m not Henry Sy; and I don’t know who’s in charge of it, but I’m just glad I saw something new to the regular boxed-typed SM.

I’m off to sleep now cause I’m dead-tired. Haven’t been able to rest much. Sorry if I can’t visit the sites of the people who dropped by. I’m a bit busy as I’m typing this fast cause I don’t want to exceed the hourly rate since it’s quite costly, knowing that the keyboard is stained and dusty (60 bucks an hour is too much). I’ll be replying to those comments and shout-outs when I get back to Cebu.

Byers!

To Bacolod!

So I’m trying to update whatever I can update; since over the next weekend, I’ll be off to Bacolod. I don’t know if I’m even prepared already. I know I shouldn’t pack much, since I’ll be back on Monday anyway. I just need to make sure that I have my toiletries, some clothes, and my camera. I’m charging my extra battery now just to be sure. Oh, never forget the money.

Going to Bacolod. I really don’t know why I’m going there. Two of my colleagues were the ones who invited me to visit them over the weekend. They told me they’d pay for my fare going there, plus I don’t have to worry about lodging as I can just sleep on the inns that the company assigned them to.

Cebu to Bacolod. Haha. I can’t believe I’ll be going there without even giving it another thought.

Right now, I don’t plan to sleep so I can utilize the travel time for it. I don’t like traveling, but I travel a lot. Really, I don’t like the waiting part. But as what afriend said

“It’s also nice to travel for how many hours. Because when you reach your destination, you’ll realize how far you’ve come from where you’ve been. You’ll soon feel that after that long wait, it’s all worth it because you’ve earned it.”

I didn’t think a comment like that would turn out to be deep. Anyway, she was referring to a person climbing a mountain; when you reach the peak, you’d forget the problems you’ve come across along the way. The only issue with my case is that I haven’t climbed a mountain nor will I be climbing one. I’ll be stuck in some public vehicle, hoping I wouldn’t puke in the process because of getting nauseous easily.

I’m still excited though, I just need somebody to pass me some placebos.

directions to Bacolod

Terminal in Citilink to Toledo City –> van (v-hire)

Toledo City to San Carlos City –> fast craft

San Carlos City port to the San Carlos City terminal - tricycle

San Carlos City to Bacolod City –> van

— these are probably all the directions I need in order to arrive in Bacolod from Cebu. It will take around 4-5 hours to get there. I got the instructions from someone over the phone that I barely knew; but I’m still glad that she could help as I trust her word for it. It’s going to be one heck of a trekking adventure for me as I’ll be on my own for once by land just to go somewhere. Good luck to me!

memory

The problem with my current camera right now is that it just uses a unique memory card that you have to buy that of the manufacturer’s. You just can’t purchase a generic SD Card which most of the current devices are supporting nowadays. Bummer. Anyway, at least for my other electronic devices, they support an SD slot. I have a big issue with memory as I don’t want to be constricted with the number of files I download or the number of pictures I take. Getting a higher memory is really important, for me at least.

Bacolod then

So Dumaguete is postpone, but Bacolod isn’t. I’m preparing myself to go to Bacolod this Friday, since I’ll also be on leave by then. Hopefully, everything will turn out fine. I’ve been to Bacolod before, but I’m wondering what I’m going to do there when I arrive.

In the mean time, I’ve been trying to search for some information online on where I can find the easiest (and cheapest) way to go there but I’m unsuccessful. But alas! I later realized that Mel, one of my travel mates in Leyte, regularly travels during weekends from Cebu to Bacolod just to take some classes.

It couldn’t have arrived at a better time since I needed the data right away. I gave her a call and I’m leaving it all up to her so I can arrive there properly.

franchise

I used to work at a fast food chain, one day a customer asked me who to talk to cause he was planning to put up a franchise of the place I was at. I went ahead and called our store manager for them to discuss the details of putting up one. I just wonder what it’s like to be able to afford to buy one. You’d have to show money in order to be even respected nowadays. Hopefully, I wouldn’t have a hard time when I reach my 30s because I’ll be able to do whatever I want; setting up a franchise or putting up my own business.

blog-cityzens

For the first time in a long while, I was able to finish all my duties for the day and go home early! haha. I’m just excited with the situation since it’s rare that I get to have the opportunity to sleep early.

Yeah, I know; what did I do then when I arrived home? Blog, blog, blog. I know this is getting a bit overrated but I’m enjoying every moment of it. Seeing different resources grow and learning much while I’m still a novice.

Anyway, I miss some blogmates.  All of us has changed ever since we left blog-city.com. Or to rephrase it, when blog-city.com kicked us out. haha.  I actually miss my previous site: ed.blog-city.com. Everyone has moved on to different hosts out there. Most people have gone to blogger already. Anyway, so long as we could keep in touch; but then again, we all have different priorities already. It’ll never be the same.

Sometimes I wonder whatever happened to some blog-cityzens. Where are you? crunchies, purplequill et.al? hehe. nananawagan ba.

staying fit

I want to hit the gym and try working out in another environment. But I usually like the way I look as of now; knowing that I haven’t been this big ever. My colleagues who are conscious of their weight are already taking diet pills together with their routine in order to enhance and speedup the process of staying slim and healthy. People are getting more and more health conscious nowadays. I’m trying to catch up but it seems I don’t have the time. I’ll just have to find a way to squeeze it in my schedule.

salute to the summer
