Blogging in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Whoa, never thought I wouldn’t be blogging for this long. It’s been awhile since I last updated this blogsite. I also haven’t been able to go online as much. My normal day to day Facebook activity has been totally lessened. This is a good thing because it made me realize that I don’t need to spend as much time on social media just looking at status messages when I’m on my laptop. I can actually do more productive tasks such as working on my other sites that need more attention.

I apologize for the absence, but I’ve been busy.
So what have I been doing lately? I am currently based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

I transferred due to personal reasons and I’m starting over by establishing new roots here. The past months haven’t been a walk in the park. I became one of the many thousands of Filipinos who are finding better opportunities in this desert city.

I can’t recall how many resumes I’ve sent and how few the responses were. Maybe I didn’t target the right employers. Still, I can say that I’ve done what the average Pinoy has in order to get a good start-up job; and it wasn’t easy at all.

I am now adjusting to the new environment. My lifestyle before has been totally different from what it is now. I’m back to a routine where I report to a physical office. It’s a challenge especially when before, I was managing my work online and travelling at the same time.

Now, I’m a bit more grounded. I am exchanging my weekday adventures to weekend ones and will be focusing on other goals that I have set for myself. I hope to accomplish them to maximize time.

So what happens next to soloflightEd? I will continue writing stories about my Southeast Asia backpacking trip from time to time. But I’m more excited to share my adventures in Dubai during my days off as well as the places I’ve visited in this city. I hope to write more updates in the next coming days.

As for myself, I aim to focus on other challenges that have long been overdue. I hope to get my act together with my online projects while juggling a one-day off job. Till then! 🙂

  6. hi Ed!  my 2 friends and I are thinking of going to Dubai next year to see if we can get a job. Any advice for us? I heard that Filipinos are easily employed and are in fact preferred over other Nationalities in the desert city. 🙂
