Blogging in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Whoa, never thought I wouldn’t be blogging for this long. It’s been awhile since I last updated this blogsite. I also haven’t been able to go online as much. My normal day to day Facebook activity has been totally lessened. This is a good thing because it made me realize that I don’t need to spend as much time on social media just looking at status messages when I’m on my laptop. I can actually do more productive tasks such as working on my other sites that need more attention.

I apologize for the absence, but I’ve been busy.
So what have I been doing lately? I am currently based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

I transferred due to personal reasons and I’m starting over by establishing new roots here. The past months haven’t been a walk in the park. I became one of the many thousands of Filipinos who are finding better opportunities in this desert city.

I can’t recall how many resumes I’ve sent and how few the responses were. Maybe I didn’t target the right employers. Still, I can say that I’ve done what the average Pinoy has in order to get a good start-up job; and it wasn’t easy at all.

Laptop Issues on the Road

bali-indonesia-work.jpg

I’ve been having problems with my laptop lately. I bought my Lenovo in February of this year and it’s on its 7th month now. The past few weeks have been terrible for me in terms of its performance. It doesn’t respond as fast as my old notebook with lower specifications.

Slow Response

Since I’m travelling most of the time, I have to make sure that there are no issues with my computer when I get the chance to work. And the last weeks have been a pain in the butt because of how slow it was. When I opened my browser or switched to a different application, it took a few seconds for it to respond.

Delusions of Grandeur: Taking the Step to Location Independence

I wake up, take a bath, go to the office, work, clock out, go home, work online, and sleep. On weekends, I travel to let loose and stay sane. This routine has been going on for a couple of years and I’ve grown comfortable with my surroundings that I feel the need for change. Somehow, … Read more

After a 13-day Vacation…

I’m back to work. I want another vacation though, just to catch up on a lot of pending posts.

First, there was Bohol; then my first trip abroad in Hongkong-Macau. Lastly was the free trip to Boracay courtesy of Seair and Microtel Hotels Resort. I don’t even have enough time to update my sites one by one. I’m cramming myself up into making sure that I get to post at least one entry each but I don’t know where to start.

I should probably stay calm cause I might end up getting no productivity at all.

Somehow, it seems that I’m just starting these trips and I have a lot more that are going to be available for me in the upcoming months. But I don’t want to jinx it. Will be talking more about my trips to these three places (two rural areas and one urban location).

For now, here are just a few pictures of the retreat from work.

Terribly Busy

Yes, I am busy, busy, busy. There are so many things that are happening right now and I’m having difficulty with my priorities. I’ll be moving again to another place; a bigger apartment with my brothers — it will be cheaper that way but I’m preparing myself for more expenses. Work, as usual, is filling … Read more

random things

To veer from the usual entries about my travel adventures in Cebu and out, I’m presenting some random things since I also need to fill this blog up with something to keep it updated. ——– My colleague is about to burst anytime soon, I’m guessing some time this week. To think that she’s still working … Read more

weekend at Stockli Beach, Badian Cebu

February 20-21, 2010 Stockli Beach, Badian, Cebu Went to Stockli Beach in Badian last weekend together with my brother's training team since it’s been awhile when I last had a beach outing. I was told that this was a nice and secluded place to be in since it’s not as expensive and it’s more private. … Read more

It’s Stockli Beach, not Stuckli, in Badian

Yeah, big revelation. Just got back from Stockli Beach in Badian, somewhere south of Cebu. Been exhausted from the trip but I'm already used to beaches in the south and some in the north. Will be posting the pictures of the trip once I learn how to organize my working routine. Darn it. Just too … Read more

If this isn’t proof of how crazy my life is the past few weeks because of so many things I need to work on, I don’t know what is. Even Lennon is covered in zip and notes. I need to complete more tasks than ever knowing that it’s the weekend and I have more time … Read more

raining and looking stupid

It’s been raining the past few days. Only, I don’t like it when it does when I’m awake. I work on the night shift and when I get home, it’s usually hotter than usual that I don’t get enough rest because I still sleep late in the afternoon. I wish to get an air conditioning … Read more

working odesk tasks at cakewalkers

I’m here at Cakewalkers at The Strip again –> naghinilas na sad! I’m listening to Black Hole Sun from Soundgarden while lounging on their chair because of their wifi connection that’s really  fast and the place feeling cozy. I’m eating a piece of their cake called Chocolate Explosion at 85 bucks. Chocolate Explosion, it’s okay, … Read more

on Asiatown IT Park, BPOs and work

This is a repost from another blog just because I feel like posting it again. Hehe. ———————— Random shot at Jollibee, IT Park. It’s nice cause more and more establishments here in the Asiatown IT Park in Lahug are offering wifi connections. I just wish it would be free rather than having to purchase a … Read more

home office

This is my bed cum office desk. On weekends, when i don’t have that much work or commitments, I usually just bum around the house, with my butt stuck on the couch and my make-shift desk as my equipment so I can start working on blogs, update pictures and much about anything there is to … Read more
